Caring Connection Crew
In 2025, United Way launched the Caring Connection Crew - a volunteer engagement pilot, creating hands-on opportunities for community members to give back and help others. This new initiative welcomed more than 700 volunteers throughout the year. Volunteers assembled Hygiene Kits, Outdoor Fun Kits, Fresh Start Kits, and more that were distributed to and through agency partners.
One of the most impactful efforts was when Caring Connection Crew volunteers came together to address the gap created by the disruption of SNAP benefits in the fall of 2025. Through special financial support from Mosaic Life Care and the Mosaic Life Care Foundation, volunteers came together to address food insecurity in our community. Their collective efforts helped assemble more than 6,600 Meal Kits, supporting local households during the holiday season. Building on that momentum, volunteers continued packing meal kits throughout 2026, and on July 14, 2026, the Caring Connection Crew proudly celebrated the assembly of its 10,000th Meal Kit, a remarkable milestone made possible through the generosity of supporters and the dedication of hundreds of community volunteers.
The Caring Connection sessions strengthened volunteer engagement, deepened community partnerships, and made a tangible difference for families in need, demonstrating the power of collective action and compassion in Greater St. Joseph.
