Last year, because of donors like you, United Way of Greater St. Joseph helped individuals and families maintain safe, stable housing across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas.

Through housing assistance, community coordination and emergency response, we are working to prevent homelessness and strengthen long-term stability.

Housing Stability Impact

Because you gave…

  • 139 households received approved housing assistance
  • $140,000+ in funding was committed to support families in need

Since 2018, the United Way Housing Stability Program has provided one-time financial assistance to help households remain safely housed or regain stability.

How Housing Stability Helps

This program fills critical gaps when other resources are unavailable by providing support such as:

  • Rent payments
  • Security deposits
  • Transportation to relocate with family or friends

These efforts help families avoid homelessness and take meaningful steps toward long-term independence.

Community Coordination & Leadership

United Way plays a key role in strengthening housing systems across the region through the Continuum of Care.

Key efforts include:

  • Securing a new contract (August 2025 – July 2026)
  • Supporting partners with deadlines, NOFO preparation, and Point-in-Time counts
  • Facilitating communication and collaboration among agencies
  • Implementing improved governance practices

Creating Stability, Building Hope

Every dollar invested helps a family stay housed, avoid crisis, and move toward a more stable future.
